Tablet vs. PC

In another thread there was a mention of how a tablet could not replace a laptop/desktop/PC. I am looking to get a tablet and really wanted it to replace my laptop so an added keyboard would be a must and the ability to connect with an HDMI would also be a must.
I think I need a Win8 tablet so I can run the same programs I run on my Win8 laptop.
The mention of not enough power concerns me, however. I don't do anything that is very CPU intensive, just e-mail, surfing forums, etc. but I do want to be able to use it for a power point presentation via HDMI and well as playing poker on-line with Windows specific software. I have a couple of other Win specific programming and I still want to be able to use my HP printer and printer software.
Is there anything that would prevent me from doing the basic Windows operations with a Win8 tablet like the Surface?
What kinds of things would I not be able to do. I have eliminated the Android operating system as I don't believe it would allow me a Windows environment and I have no interest in Apple so let's not let the discussion get off track with those supporters.
