tailgater and rooftop satellite switching

I recently purchased a tailgater when our motosat stopped working. Now have motosat/nomad repaired and would like the option of using either satellite dish. Reaching into the small A/V cabinet to disconnect/connect the coax cable is a pain. Our Camelot has a sat-in connector in the utility bay which comes into the A/V cabinet above the driver seat. How have you solved this issue? Using a combiner or a duplexer or a ????
  • I bought my last AB switch at walmart. they are easy /cheap to find.

  • Thanks for the responses. I considered an AB switch but think there must be something that would not require any action on our part. AB switch would be ideal if we were switching between two active Sat inputs. In our application only one Sat would be sending signal to the Sat receiver at any given time. I am looking for something passive, does not require manual switching and will send the active signal down a single coax to the SAT receiver.

  • Nope, you are going to need an A/B switch. Anything else will create an issue. They must be electrically separated.

    I always recommend those myself

Slide, and with a Vip 211K you jump through a bunch of hoops and it works, NOTE

Hook the rooftop dome to "A"
The sat in jack in the basement to "B"

And always be in "A" when you hook up the tailgater.. (Or unhook it)

Why put the roof on A-bove and the basement connector on B-elow.

    Well the question answers itself.
