Tengonet vs Verizon Wifi

We are at a CG in Florida that offers free tengonet. We have Verizon Wireless but seems to come and go when in CG. Does Tengonet somehow override our Verizon? Leave campground and Verizon works fine. What am I missing?

Thanks!
  • Tengo does not interfere with Verizon, although WiFi channel contention could cause drop outs. More likely though, the CG is just in a poor signal area for Verizon.

Never had any good experience with Tengonet, slow and undependable.:( Call Verizon and have technician come out to your site to check out all you internet connections and system.
  • When I snowbird in Ariz. I go to the Verizon store to rent a router by the month and have them install it in my RV. Great dependable internet connections!
  • something new, rent a router by the month...i'll have to check that out.

You wouldn't happen to be at the KOA in Rodanthe? I had that issue there. The interference even shut down the radio in my laptop. I suspect it was the large cell tower to the north.

Are you referring to a router that uses Verizon wireless or Verizon DSL or FiOS?
  • We use a Verizon hotspot that works in about 90% of the places we go. Sometimes a booster is required. Doesn't work well at Three Rivers SP in FL; keeps swapping towers. Doesn't work in Flamingo in the Everglades NP; that's ATT there. Roaming in MS so watch your plan features there. We don't get charged for roaming.
  • We use any and all free campground wifi to surf but rely on our Verizon mifi for all banking and sensitive email service.
  • Thanks all! Home now but next time will be better prepared. We were in Daytona Beach.
