I don't do telephone text, but I have texted using gmail because it's usually the only reliable way to get in touch with the kids if I need something fairly soon.
I've never texted anybody using a phone. Too much trouble with my flip phone. :)
Of course I was always in trouble with my kids before the advent of cell phones because I never answered my phone and didn't bother with an answering machine. Now I simply don't turn my flip phone on, and accomplish the same thing. :)
