The truth is you may just being dreaming that the phone range. The very first time may have been a real call that someone realized they called the wrong number.
Your mind is set to expect a ring so it is in your mind while sound asleep.
Most phones will not pick up an ID on the first ring. Also; our phones will light up display if a real call comes in on the first ring. If we get a call at night the phone would still be lit.
A good clue if it were real would be both of you waking up thinking the phone rang.
It has happened to me a few times in the past. No phone found lit up, and wife still sleeping. Being 70 now I realize people's minds can play tricks on them. Since late 2010, we had two of our parents die at 97 and 92. My wife's mother just died in January 2014 at 98. I have a aunt living near us who will be 102.
I guess our minds a tuned into expect a call at any hour.
