As someone stated above about the bluetooth, you're phones are electronic, and electronic devices have the potential to pick up "signals" from anywhere, which could potentially trigger a ring, a beep, a light to flash, any number of things.
When we lived in town, sometimes our garage door opened automatically. Did someone have a garage door opener on the same frequency? possibly, but it was really erratic when it opened or shut. I figured it had to be a frequency coming from somewhere!
Ever having a "talking" toaster or coffee pot that would pick-up a radio station? My parents use to have a toaster that did this. And when we first moved into our current house, our fire place played country music from a local radio station about 6:30 am, every day for 5 minutes. After I remodeled the rooms on the other side of the wall the fire place is on, it never happened again. Strange? yes.
Chances are, you're getting a signal from somewhere that's causing the single ring, that has nothing to do with anyone attempting to all you.
