I've just unplugged the fax from the phone line. I have already tried to disconnect the phones to isolate the issue. Some nights it doesn't happen at all, a few nights it has happened more than once, it is unpredictable, random, non-linear. Maybe Chaos Theory would explain it (Degree in Physics, long, long ago)? As far as I know, no deaths have occurred in the house, except for my greyhound, Dot, 10 years ago next month. Dot?? Are you trying to call?
One possibility would be interference between the electrical lines and the phone lines, which are close together in back of the house, near the family room. The level of electrical interference is one reason I have never successfully been able to use an indoor antenna in the family room. Even cabling from a roof antenna that came near the electrical lines produced a lot of interference. That antenna was blown down in a wind storm years ago and I have relied solely on Direct TV for TV ever since. I have also noticed I can't watch TV in the family room at the same time I am using the treadmill.
