The Weather Channel--what happened??

We have always use TWC on the highway and at home via Direct TV--but we also watch NBC. I saw where Direct TV told TWC to 'take a hike' because of a contract dispute, but I havn't heard why NBC quit using them. Maybe the same reason? Weather Nation is the weather channel on Direct TV presently, but they are 'third string' and seem not to have any local info.I've Googled the topic but found nothing. What's the latest? jim

    Damn! Thought they might have bit off more than they could chew and would have to eat it. At least DTV stood strong and our monthly bill will go up a little less than it might have.
    I will likely watch the WC again but it will always tighten up my shorts a bit.

    Good to hear BUT, too little and too late for reducing the bozo shows for me..

    They permanently lost my household for viewing years ago when they decided Storm Stories was more important than reporting current weather..

    I don't have time to sift through all their old weather news hype, it is history and so are they just like MTV, VH1 and CMT all which no longer show what they USED to..

    After a three-month dispute with DirecTV that saw the channel dropped to some 20 million U.S. viewers, the two sides came to a new deal that will restore service on Wednesday.

    The biggest change to its programming will affect all Weather Channel viewers, not just DirecTV subscribers. It said it will reduce its reality programming by half on weekdays. That means fewer airings of TV shows like "Coast Guard Alaska" and "Hurricane Hunters."

    I like the weather channel WHEN it's on weather. BUt, now they reduced staffing and do not have weather on 24/7. They have reality & entertainment shows. I want them to go back to weather 24/7.

    TWC has be come a variety show, almost no info and then eastcoast slanted. Have gone back to my weather radio.

    Gee, glad to hear that I am not the only one that thinks that TWC was only an east coast outfit. Anything- even the most pleasant of days apparently was breaking news if it happened on the east coast. I kinda felt like an orphan living out west.

    The replacement for TWC is just as worthless..:(

    The former TWC (only beneficial) zip code feature has been returned.

    Glad to see it back.

    You're the satellite guru - don't like a channel, don't watch it..:S

    IMO - The replacement for TWC - "Weather Nation" - is worthless *EXCEPT*....

    DirecTV has brought back the....push red button, go to Zip Code (or state & city name you entered) - weather feature.
    Mute button takes care of the "Weather Nation" music..:C

    Obviously DirecTV doesn't follow RV Net, as contrary to what a lot of posters did *NOT* like, apparently the zip/city/state feature was missed by (other) viewers..:B

    Squeeky wheel/s got the oil..;)
