In Win 8, install Classic Shell. This is a start menu replacement that will allow you to boot to the Desktop automatically and to disable the hot corners on the desktop. This also gives you a Win 7 style Start Menu. With this app, Win 8 will look and feel like Win 7, only faster and more secure.
