It may help explain the problems you are having.
Before starting make sure you make copies of all documents and photos.
If you haven't done it already create the restore disks for your computer.
One advantage of doing a fresh Windows install is that you don't get loaded up with all the bloatware and crapware that companies insist on adding to your computer. The disadvantage is that you have to round up all the needed drivers for your specific computer.
