I see these options from you guys explaining 'easy ways' to fix this sometimes.
Well, it's not what I want to do - I don't care if my desktop is clean - I don't work on my desktop, I work with programs that I launch off my desktop ... and when you only understand just so much, and it works, then it bothers me to have to change it simply because Dell built a cheap plug-in battery charger on the side of my LT. Everything else works well on it, but I can't charge it, that's when the fun started - buying a Mistake Wdw8 new LT ...
Although a lot of what you all said helps me make it work better - I still think it's ridiculous to HIDE an icon that I need to search out and then click THREE times to shut down? Does that make any sense?
I'd prefer my time spent either USING the LT once I learned it the first time - and not spend all that unnecessary time learning all the 'tricks' I don't need to know on a new LT ... it's fine and great for the techs that use this stuff, but to force me to use it when the only thing that made me do it at all was a broken power insert - they wanted over $200 and a week to fix it - so, that's when it began because it broke two days before we left - I didn't have a week, although it turns out I had three months of headache for this one to mess with my head and mess with learning all this 'stuff' (I have a better word for stuff)...
Anyway, it's working well enough until I return to Florida, and by that time, I may have all the junk out, and get more used to clicking three times when one was sufficient on my other LT.
Even on start up - Wdw7 open to my password page, Wdw8 opens to a blank page, which I have to click up open to my password page. How is that efficient? Twice as many, just to get open. Then click again to get to my desktop, which was open as soon as I put the password on Wdw7 ... seems to me there is nothing efficient about Wdw8 - at least at the beginning. And it continues to force me to click several times to go anywhere once I get somewhere? Backtrack to go forward, makes no sense to me, might be some of you tech guys can make it more efficient for yourselves, but I don't have that ability ... and wouldn't need it if new LT could have Wdw7 in them without special order.
