My Smart Phone app is no different than the Garmin Street Pilot III I have used in the past, It is not quite as nice as the software (Microsoft Streets & Trips) I use on this laptop when I am driving roads not previously driven.
But here the difference is a bigger screen..
No, I suspect this is either a case of over-reaction by the government (Let's control all HAND HELD stuff) or being pushed by companies such as Tom-Tom, Magellan and Garmin.
