I haven't cut the cord yet but I am looking to alternative ways to watch TV. The OTA NATL BROADCAST here in this area gets me all four NATL networks plus PBS, plenty of movie channels, and live radar channels. The big thing for us is all of these TV transmissions we pick up is full screen high definition DIGITAL TV signals.
The beauty of all of this is it is FREE to the public. We are roughly 50 miles outside of Washington DC and Richmond VA transmitting stations. The only way for us to get great coverage was to use the BOW TIE antenna which can be purchased for as little as $60. The one I am using cost $90

The antenna I want play with is the adjustable one where I can move four antenna feeds in their separate directions. The Washington DC transmitters have three networks on one side of DC and the other network on the other side of DC. With a fixed UHF antenna you have to move it to pick up both transmitter site locations. With the adjustable antenna halves you can pick up both transmitter locations without moving the Antenna

I am totally convinced I can cut the CABLE TV cord here and save my $200 a month cable TV cost.
I of course will lose out of a few of the CABLE channels we like to watch like CNN, WX CHANNEL, etc but those can downstreamed on-line if you really really want to view them.
