Rather than download the stuff and then delete it I use MailWasher which lets me either decide what is deleted or use a filter on it before I download. Either way when I run the Mailwasher "Was"h function all of the spam is deleted before I download my email via Thunderbird.
Not trying to DELETE, I'm trying to RESTORE a message Thunderbird thinks is spam.
I should have explained that I don't use the Thunderbird spam filtering at all. Mailwasher replaces it.
The spam never gets to my computer. The items Mailwasher thinks are spam are marked as such and when you review all of the items you just uncheck the ones you want to download. You can also tell Mailwasher they are friends and it won't mark them as spam in the future.
thanks Clay,
I've solved my problem and had pretty good luck with TB's filter but I'll check into Mailwasher. Does it run within TB or do you have to log into it separately each time you want to see what junk mail you got. That's the problem I've had a couple of times, TB filter marks stuff junk when it's not.
