I got a basic phone for my dad for $40. He can make calls, text and get his e-mail. It's not good for anything more complicated, but it's all he needs.

I use my "phone" (not really "phones" anymore - let's face it, they're little computers now) for work so I get the more expensive higher-horsepower versions. But like I said, at the current prices I'll keep my 2-year-old phone for as long as it continues to work.
