I mentioned before that I always have an Atlas or paper map available as well as checking Google Maps. I have on occasion used the map program on my phone too!
BUT... I like having TomTom riding along with us. Ours has a split screen that appears when we're at an exit on an interstate and clearly indicates where we need to be to go where we're mapped to go. He gets a little perturbed when we exit and it's not mapped. I wish there was a "chill" button on him.
I like being able to tell how much farther we need to go & about what time we'll get there. I also like to know how fast we're going. ;) Tom gives us plenty of warning before there is a turn which is handy too.
The maps are only as good as the updates and TomTom depends on the users to bring new roads & construction detours to their attention. I've done that for a major bridge construction in our area and sure enough, the next map update had the detour. They do check it out though before making the change.
When we bought our new to us coach, it had a TomTom Eclipse which we named Paula. I've had great customer support from TomTom to get Paula updated with the new maps.
Now, we sometimes have both Tom & Paula on at the same time....BUT I still want a paper map!
