Too much glare on GPS screen!

I have a three year old TomTom with a 4.3" screen. It works just fine for what I use it for, which is just to see where I'm at on unfamiliar roads. Anyway, my issue is that often times, on bright days, there is so much reflection and glare on the screen that I can't make out what's on the screen! :M I already have the brightness at 100%.

Surely I am not the only one that has this issue??? Any suggestions to help with this problem???
:?
  • I have a 3"x5" pad of Post-It Notes in the truck. When the sun/glare becomes a problem I stick one on top of the GPS as a sunshade.
  • One thing I do in bright glare conditions is change the display to show the night view screen - the roads stand out better on my Garmin and Rand GPS with the dark background and lighter roads - that the standard daytime view with a light background.

Not a great solution, but it helps.
  • Move it back from the windshield or put a cover over it to keep sunlight off. You might also try changing the screen colors to a combination that you can see better. I use mine only in cities since it's really hard to get lost on a highway in rural areas.
  • Hi I went to the tomtom store and found sunshade for the gps units. here's a link sunshade. It might help I haven't had a need to use one but they are offered as a accessory
