Transfering movies from Canon FS 20 Camcorder

I purchased my new laptop without a DVD player/recorder. I am unable to load PIXELA (the program that supports file transfer)from the DVD that came with the camera because I do not have a DVD player/recorder. I've tried to load from the PIXELA website, but their charge for a "lost" DVD is $40. One option is to purchase an external DVD and load or to look here and see if there are any other options. All comments appreciated.
  • I have Sony Vegas Movie Studio and download from my video camera with that. There is a Capture Video selection under the Project Menu.
  • Unless you really feel you need Pixella, you might just consider transferring the photos using a card reader and use a different program.

IMO most of those programs that come with the cameras are only so-so at managing photos, and you might find one that will serve you better. FWIW I've tried a couple of the programs that come with cameras, and didn't care for any of them.
  • A DVD is only 4.7GB ..A CD 770mb
    Use another pc
Copy the files to a memory stick USB thumb drive
    And install from there
You have the original disc..you have the KEY needed for authentication and registering the install
