Had a young neighbor have her thumb drive crash with her term paper on it. I wrote he teacher a note letting her know the drive crashed and we were working on it.

Do not solely depend on a Flash drive or memory card as a backup!!!!
I HAVE had flash drives AND MEMORY CARDS FAIL.
I highly recommend, #1 EXTERNAL USB HARD DRIVE (not SSD)as a main backup.
#2 Data CD-R or Data DVD-R or +R (I have had a few burned audio discs using CD-R fail but so far no DVD-Rs have failed).
#3 Flash USB or Memory card
You will note that I don't think much of Flash Memory cards for LONG TERM STORAGE..
