If you have your email online then no problem. I use Thunderbird and have my email on the computer. It is easiest to move the email from the workstation to either a laptop or small netbook for use when traveling. If I was using gmail instead and did not mind having to be connected to view messages a tablet would be OK though still limiting as I often send or receive attachments and need more storage than a tablet provides and the ability to run applications like Photoshop, Excel, Word, Quickbooks, etc.
