I was a loyal Turbo Tax user for many years until Tax Cut came out. As a Mac user I never had the option of buying Basic Turbo Tax because it was never offered and I always had to buy the Deluxe version at about twice the price. When Tax Cut came out I noticed that both the PC and Mac versions were on the same CD and their Basic version worked on my Mac. That first year I did my taxes with both Turbo Tax and Tax Cut for a comparison and came up with the same results. I've been a loyal Tax Cut user ever since.
What seems baffling to most Mac users is that the CEO of Intuit at the time (BIll Campbell) sat on the Apple Board and yet Intuit always treats Mac users a 3rd class citizens. For years we got screwed on Turbo Tax and we still get screwed on Quicken. They couldn't even come up with a working version of Quicken when Apple moved off the PowerPC and needed the help of Apple Engineers to make a hacked up version that works.
Intuit support is also pathetic, at least in the Mac world. I once reported a problem and their response was they'd never seen it before and couldn't duplicate it. A quick search of their problem database showed it had been reported multiple time for years before I sent in my report. It only took me a few minutes to build a simple test case to replicate the problem which I sent to them. At that point they finally fixed the problem.
