TV on while traveling

We are planning a cross country trip soon with 3 kids aged 12-14. To make the time go by quicker for them, I would like for them to be able to watch DVDs on the TV while we are traveling. Usually, when the MH is in drive, the TV goes off. I know that, at one time, someone had a post about how to allow for that to happen. Any help?

  • Just be aware that if the driver can see the TV while the RV is in-motion it is illegal to have the TV turned on. That's not to say that you should or should not do this but it's important that you are aware. You will not be able to do this at night, even if it were legal, as it really screws with your night vision. Of course it would also make you a sitting duck for the next cop you passed!
  • Instead of going to all the trouble to bypass the ignition inter lock.
which means a lot of rewireing.

How bout using an Inverter to power the TV/DVR,you wont have to worry about running the battery down because you are charging while driving
I use this one to power my TV/Dvr with no problem while moving.

    Inverter
  • Just plug the TV/DVD into another live outlet other than the overhead. Should be fine as long as the TV is not in view of the driver, which I'm assuming is not an issue in your case?
