I do agree with Tom.. The combo units if the DVD dies they all dead
And you can get DVD players very cheap Some of them are 12 volt, others 120, but I would go with components, Gives you more flexibility.
DVD can also feed an audio amp with a CD in it, then you can turn TV off.
Example of this in a motor home would be feeding DVD audio (CD) to the dash radio either directly or via an FM link while driving.
