What I do.. NOTE: does not always work
I have a NanoStation Wi-Fi adapter feeding a standard "Home type" router. EVERYTHING TVs (Well DVR's TVs do not connect Laptops. Desktop. Tablet and Smart phone all connect to said router.
The NanoStation connects the router to the park,. NOTE: The park I'm at now has very poor wi-fi.. I got it to work well one week but they,.. Fixed it... Now I have no luck at all.
It will work with the phone as hot spot.
Since I only watch recorded TV on the DVR"s hardly ever live controlling the DVRs is the same as controlling the TV.. I can do that with I/R (The phone can do that too) or via a web page on the Desktop (it then sends commands via the LAN to the DVR's) all the features "Only our VERY EXPENSIVE subscription service lets you do" (Paraphase of ads) for 25/year (And that's just for the Electronic Program Listing. If I run the DVR's in VCR mode (NO program guide) I'd not need or pay for that. But it is handy)
