I can't find a direct link, so I went through the "Check availability" link, where I found the prices and data details. Screenshot.
Notice that it says "Data throughput reduced to 3G speeds after first 1GB"? So that tells me it's not restricted to Wifi only.
But that does raise another caveat; Only 1GB is at 4G speed and the rest is 3G speed which is about 200kbit, which is about four times 56k. With that, you can download 1MB every minute or so. Watch very low-fi YouTubes and some Facebook videos, after buffering. Stick to mostly casual web surfing. OS and virus updates should be set to run overnight. So it's good for casual users. I personally would be OK with that, as I'm frugal, but that's not for everyone. Many would be frustrated with speeds like that.
On the plus side, that does tell me it is likely to be effectively unlimited. It'd be real hard to use up GB upon GB with a 200kbit connection, wouldn't it? You'd have to really be doing lots and lots of downloads and even then...
Also I goofed when I said the total is $21. I was looking at the voice/text but not the unlimited voice/text/data plan, which is $20. To add tethering is another $10. I've adjusted the thread title to match.
So it's really $30 for an effectively unlimited 200kbit wifi hotspot on a not-so-great data network. Not as exciting as I first thought, but again, maybe this is a good choice for some people.
