Guess I was lucky then when I ordered my Mobley and set it up to be USB powered for my RV. Worked great all summer when I was in Alaska.
Also have GM's service in my new toad and from what I can tell even though it runs on the AT&T network the coverage is a bit different. I suspect it has something to do with the bands or frequencies used. I believe the Mobley is limited to only using AT&T towers (no roaming) whereas the GM service roams, at least it did when I was traveling in Canada with the car.
Anyway, at the time Mobley was available there were similar devices and plans being offered by Verizon and T-Mobile. Actually T-Mobile uses a variant of the Mobley, they're both built by ZTE and look identical but the tech specs are a bit different. It MAY be possible to get one of those ZTE devices from T-Mobile and put an AT&T SIM in it and make it work, assuming you can still sign up for the AT&T unlimited connected car plan that Mobley uses.
