Update 8.1.2
Is this update ok to do? My new iPad is telling me it's available.

I've been running it on my iPhone 4S with no issues whatsoever.
We have it on a 4S as well with no issues.
These Benchmarks on ArsTechnica show that 8.1.1 is a little slower than 7.x.x but not significantly so. DW has been running 8.1.1 without issue for a couple of months. Not planning to upgrade to 8.1.2 since it does not show any advantages over 8.1.1 for us. Version 8.0 had definite issues for 4S.
