iPod touch is playing music in a speaker dock as I type (Janis Joplin right now) - over 3,000 selections on it. Also have a bunch of apps that I use frequently, great for checking sports scores if you have WiFi. Have a couple of news apps that I use occasionally. Like the restaurant locator apps, weather apps and NPR and WGN radio apps.
Use the calendar constantly and the weather apps. Used to read e-books on it before I got the Kindle Paperwhite.
Also use it for music in the smart and the truck.
We plan on using it for audio tour guides in Rome and Venice this summer.
On my third one at present - killed two of them: one fell in the pool, the other died (along with my phone) in moment of brain fade involving a small canoe! One of the dead ones will still work in the speaker dock for listening to NPR.
