Verizon Ellipse tablet

Does any one know if the Verizon Ellipse Tablet can be used as a hot spot? and if so is there an app for that?

  • I'm using my Ellipsis 8 for a hotspot, our Mi-Fi was giving us trouble and the tablet was needing to be replaced so I combined two into one. It works just fine as a hotspot if the tablet goes to sleep but it is 4GLTE or XLTE only so if we are in a 3G area we will we the smartphone for a hotspot, I'm very rarely in a 3G only area anymore.

  • We haven't enabled ours, to many places we go don't have 4G.
As for Chrome it and it's wanna be Opera are both terrible about setting up book marks.
  • I have an Elipsis 7 and have used it a lot for a hot spot but it only works in 4g areas. Select settings, then under wireless and networks select more, next screen tethering and mobile hotspot, select that then mobile hotspot comes up, turn it on, touch that and another screen comes up to keep mobile hotspot on, if not selected you got to keep turning it on everytime it goes to sleep.
    Hope this helps
  • Any iPad or Andoid cellular enabled device can become a hotspot. Hotspot software is built right into the OS on every device. But it's really a question of whether your plan allows tethering or not. If it does you just need to go to settings to configure it, and turn it on...

Had same problem. I googled it. Found answer. Has to do with syncing, and perhaps your login is in need of refreshing.

    Google says you can....

"Like a phone, the tablet can be used as a hotspot. Which is great, because adding a jetpack on to your account costs $20 a month, and tablets are only $10. If you either want to save a few dollars a month by adding a tablet or you want to use your existing Ellipsis (or any other Android tablet) as a hotspot instead of a phone, it can be done. Straight out of the box, in order to acitvate the hotspot, you have to go to settings->More->Tethering and Mobile Hotspot to turn on the hotspot."

Verizon has new rules now for using DATA PLANS so I guess that will figured into this as well...

  • Have one but have not considered it for this use. Could use more info, so I'm watching.

So far I have a little annoyance that I can't organize the bookmarks in Chrome.
