Ok so other than bringing your home phone on the road with you (and getting a stronger signal, although I have no idea how that would be possible) what does one of these things do that a normal cell phone can't do?
We have been using one for three years now and love it. It has a six inch stubby antenna attached which allows it to get a signal when the cell phone will not (unless you have a Wilson amplifier with antenna or something similar). It also cost a flat 19.95/month for unlimited talking to any number in the US. One thing we have also noticed with ours is that it acts like a normal home phone in that you don't cut each other off when talking. Another added advantage is that it will work with your cordless phone system so that multiple handsets can be connected.
All true. I can also connect the magnetic base outside antenna I use for the Wilson Sleek to the router.
The reason we like this so much is that other than a trac phone, we do not have cell phones as this is much cheaper.
