The Verizon plan does not even come close to being an unlimited plan. It's just smoke and mirrors and new words for nearly exactly the same plan that has been available in the past plus they removed the option for that data to be used on your hotspot. They have actually reduced service and now call it unlimited. Marketing folks should be hung from a local tree and stoned!
You are correct, it is not truly unlimited.
As an F.Y.I., on the single smart phone plan up to 2 "data only" devices (hotspot or tablet) can be added to the plan for an extra $20 per device. So the phone plan is $80 for 10GB of high speed data and each additional line would be $20 and each line (data only device) gets its own 10 GB of high speed data. This would allow you to purchase multiple SIMS and when one runs out, just pop in the next one. Getting 10 GB for $20 is not bad. Any of the SIMS can be put into a hotspot or tablet.
On a multi-smart phone plan, you can have up to 10 devices. The base data charge is $100 and then $20 for each device (including the original 2 smartphones). So $100 + $40 for two phones, then $20 for each additional device.
10GB of high speed data can be used in EACH device, then additional usage slows down to 3G speeds(600K) for the remainder of the month.
