I'm not a MS fanboy, but the OP linked article did tell me a lot about the company, and it reinforced my sense that they work hard in software products that are powerful and stand up over time.
But how are they gonna spin their continuing support for XP in China (where most MS software is bootlegged) while using apocalyptic scare tactics on the rest of the world who will see an end to MS support w/r security patches on XP code?
I can accept it if MS and US political powers arranged a swap deal - computer security for wiping away a trillion or so of our China IOU. China will never be seeing that money anyway.
I know most folk here are already using newer MS OSs, but you gotta admit, this move has very bad PR juju. Then again, PR is perennially one of MS's weak spots. Why?
