I've used both Sony Vegas Pro and Movie Studio for many years. The consumer version, Movie Studio, is actually very powerful, and inherits most of the features of the pro version. Such as GPU acceleration, image stabilization, burning Bluray/DVD directly from timeline, preview on external LCD TV, 2D/3D track motion effects, even editing 3-D projects. You can also correct color most video clips with just two clicks. Previews run in real time, but is dependant on your computer hardware and graphics card.
A free 30-day trial is available of the current versions such as Movie Studio Platinum 12. However, you can get the previous version such as Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11 for about $30, and is compatible with Windows 8.
Karen brings up a subject I've been thinking about doing since we retired and full time rv'ing. Maybe my question will help her with what she wants to do. My question is, lets say I have 12 photo pictures and 2 motion video files, what I want to do is take the 12 pictures and 2 videos and make a movie. I need to "talk to" (add or edit my voice) to each picture explaining what were doing and add audio (my voice) to the videos as needed. Also, do I need to purchase a microphone to do this or will the built in mic work? The software I would be using would probably the Sony Vegas Studio Platinum since you seem to be very fairly familiar with this s/w. Thanks for your input.
