Straight Talk has a strict no tethering policy. Do not try this with Straight Talk - which is the big plan sold at Walmart. I have a TMobile prepaid plan from Walmart - 5 GB at 4G and unlimited below 4G, unlimited text, and 100 minutes of talk. This plan is only available on phones or SIM cards sold for TMobile at Walmart or on the TMobile website- if you buy anywhere else including a TMobile store you will not get this plan. I have used an Android app called Foxfi to connect the phone to a laptop by wifi. It works. These systems know the difference between a PC browser and a mobile browser so if you try to open a lot of graphic intensive websites on the PC they will know you are tethering. You may either be cancelled or sent a bill for the Tethering Option - which you can buy from TMobile. If you connect to a wifi tablet instead of a PC it will not show any differently than you phone. Remember - a movie streams about 1GB of data per hour of movie - so don't stream media unless you want to run through your data - even if just on your phone.
