One of my PC's Automatically installed Windows 10. If you don't want this to happen to you, click the start button and type "windows update" go into the settings and turn automatic updates off. If it does happen to you and you want 7 back, click the start button and then type "restore". It can be brought back to 7 but you may have to reinstall some programs.

Well, was it better or worse???

To get the upgrade it had to be accepted at some point. Or at least that was the way it worked on our win 7 and win 8.1 machines.

10 does not automatically install. sorry you click agreed at some point.

Since you clicked on something and accepted it...why not use if for awhile, poke around and learn it some. Do some tweaking to suit. I think you will like it. It's a very stable operating system.

It can be brought back to 7 but you may have to reinstall some programs.MS wasn't "happy" with the W10 free "upgrades" acceptance so they changed how the upgrade to W10 update works from "optional" to IMPORTANT..Before the change you would avoid it by only accepting IMPORTANT updates..But now you must either completely disable automatic updates OR at least set it to CHECK for updates ONLY and select and READ EACH UPDATE..Blindly accepting all automatic updates is a fool hardy thing to do in the first place..Do like the smart folks do, disable then manually go to MS Update website and get only the IMPORTANT updates.To MS's credit, they DID put out a bulletin alerting folks that this was changing.. So it shouldn't really be much of a surprise.

The update window changes where you click I don't want to update, they do this so you accidently hit the wrong button, happened to my wife..

I heard its called a nag button..

Microsoft provide a means for rolling back for Windows 10 to the previous version, if it's been less than a month since the upgrade.

If it’s been less than a month since you upgraded to Windows 10, you can go back to your previous version of Windows by going to Settings > Update & security > Recovery and selecting either Go back to Windows 7 or Go back to Windows 8.1. This won't affect your personal files, but it will remove any apps you installed after the upgrade to Windows 10.

Going back to Windows 7 or 8.1

Actually, I don't really care but my Windows 7 keeps offering to upgrade. I OK it. It downloads, installs and reboots. Still Windows 7. Happened four times. As I said, I don't really care. I have another laptop with Windows 10 and really see nothing any better, that matters to me.

It won't automatically update Windows Vista. OK - so my PC is a bit dated, but it still works and operates the way I want it to operate.

I upgraded to windows 10 from 7. I really like it, runs faster and smoother now.

uh i said install. not download, yes it downloads it, it does not install it without agreeing. which is what the op's topic is.
