I try very hard to learn and keep up, but I have no background in this stuff. We had none of it when I grew up, so it's always learning from the hip.
I learn a program, take all that time, educate myself as best I can, and then a new one comes along and I need to start over. I made a mistake buying this Wdw8 (or maybe Win8? - apparently due to my ignorance) But at this point, would like it to function. I don't want to add more programs, more patches, or more junk to my laptop. If it's not easy to back-grade to what my other PC's have, I'll toss this in the junk pile and have learned another lesson.
Here's one more comment, for above - my editor send the exact document back to me that I sent her. In the same format - when it came into this LT, it arrived in the new Word format - she does not have the new format on her LT nor do I have it in mine. SO, somewhere, this new Wdw8 OS or one of its tiles or apps changed it - there is no other way it could happen. Neither one of us sent it in the new Word format, but this laptop says I must buy the new Word to open this document.
Follow up - I messed around with it, finally transferred it to another file, and opened it with Wordpad. I shouldn't have to do that ... that's my only point, or one of my points. MS is forcing me to buy other programs - that's my major beef - forcing me to buy new what I already bought from MS once.
I don't have the skills nor desire to install new alternate programs, and should not have to either. MS got sued for this type of action once, and should get sued again if this continues. That's just my ignorant opinion.
It's not just about finding a button, or looking at a screen that resembles the old one - that's just a patch or alternate or cover-up for what actually resides in my LT ...
I'll probably take this to someone that can do it - I already have the disks for Wdw7 ... so will make that happen at some point. I don't know how you all do that - ignore stuff - but it constantly opens stuff on his desktop that I don't open, that I don't want to use, and that I can't delete, it seems. That's more the issue too - it opens things and stares at me, and makes me start over because I can never find a simple "back button" to take it off the screen.
