Wdw8 down to Wdw7 in laptop

If I buy a new HD for my Toshiba - which came with WDW8 - can I just install a new WDW7 program on it and toss this WDW8 OS in the trash can where it belongs ...

What I want is WDW7, but couldn't find it - everything had WDW8 and it won't allow me to download my other Word and Photo programs - WDW7 will allow it. So, if I buy a HD clean, and simply install WDW7 on it, will that work - or is other parts of this new laptop require WDW8 to operate?

Or, can I simply format or wipe off the HD totally, and just install WDW7 from the disc package? I have installation disks for WDW7. I have a new Toshiba i5 if that helps. But I hate this WDW8 OS ...

I don't want to download other help programs - this seem to clutter up the HD ... and make something operate different than designed, so I don't want to "Fake it" - just want WDW7 back like I had it before. I have other WDW7 PC's and these two systems won't talk to one another easily, so want all WDW7 to eliminate that.

  • Before you get rid of Win 8 which is horrible , I read last night Windows has released a patch 8.1 which will bring win 8 to operate like win 7. It is going to be a free release available soon.

Now as for wiping out Win 8 and reverting back to Win 7, yes you can do it but you must download all the drivers necessary for all your hardware to function properly. If all your hardware on your machine has drivers available for win 7 you should have no problem. Be sure you check first or your machine will perform very poorly.

You can run two OS at the same time with a boot screen choosing which OS you want to run at the time but that is a little more complicated doing it. Not hard just a little more with the installation.

My suggestion unless your real comfortable with reformatting etc, is to wait just a short time and see if Win 8.1 will solve your problem. Good luck with Windows.....
  • The only upgrade that Win8 had over 7 was to include the option for touch screens. Junk that 8, get 7, format HDD, install, enjoy your lappy again. You might have to download some drivers from Toshiba, so if you do, save them to an external drive so you have quick access to them should you need to redo the computer in the future.
