All I do is re-power the unit when we setup and it finds the closest NOAH WX ALERT station.
The problem with relying on any of those apps is that it all takes time for NWS to release the warning and for it to aggrate through the various servers, then to your phone.. It all takes time, and that's if the the local cell tower or the link to it are intact. They are a great idea, and if have several running all the time, but NWS is way more reliable if in range.
