I came across this site recently and found it works very well in measuring your speed. It's also very easy to remember: www.fast.com Just thought I'd share it for general info.

You're correct, Fizz. I got into the habit of turning my iPad off by just momentarily pushing the power button. After having problems with my Safari browser locking up, I've been turning it completely off using the power slider on the screen. Everything's OK now.
