Welcome screen hangup

Had the same thing happen.
It’s a recent windows update causing it, HP only.
It will come on after 10 min.
The latest update fixed it.

Do a search on ‘HP black screen hang up’
There is a temp fix it using Task Manger.
Use all those words in your search and you’ll find it.

It's doing Windows updates. Very frustrating when that happens. Leave it on over night until it finishes.

I had a HP laptop that would always hang on boot up. But I think it was always on the black "HP" screen before windows. I would just sweep the keyboard with my hand and it would always continue. Don't know if it was a stuck key or something but no other issues after the boot up.

Keep trying to restart. Mine usually comes back about the 4th time. When shutting down and you see the message that it will shut down and install updates and you are using Macafee don't shut down. Open Macafee and temporarilly disable real time scanning and turn off your firewall. You are getting an updated from a trusted source so don't worry. Then shut down. Works from me.
