What GPS Do You Have

No smart phone .. hopefully never.

smart phone screen is to small.

plus mounting it to see well in truck...

Enjoy your better system... I do not have to pay to use my gps. (air time)

My opinion. Yes I know people with smart phones.

My take on the GPS business is that it is going to need to make a dramatic turn to allow live on-line data to be accessed or the phone mapping programs will simply run away with the market. I was just in San Marcos, TX and one of the streets had been under construction for 2-3 years and traffic could only travel in 1 direction with a detour to a street a block away to travel the opposite direction. My phone (Google Maps) knew that 2-way road could only be traveled in 1 direction and gave the appropriate detour. I had only been there a couple of days when the construction was cleared and the road opened in both directions. For about a week Google insisted you could not travel on the newly open road but one day I entered a course that included this road and it showed a route that included traveling on the previously blocked side of the road. I am not sure how they managed but this would simply have been an impossible feat with a stand alone GPS.
If you think you also like the GPS units traffic option, Google is now using WAZE updates for live updates and will actually do a live re-route of your trip should this cut down on your ETA. I discovered this in Austin, TX when it said to continue on the side road for 3 miles instead of getting on the Interstate (the obvious route). I shrugged, called the GPS stupid and headed for the on-ramp. Luckily as I pulled onto the ramp I could see traffic at a stand still and pulled back onto the side road driving past miles and miles of traffic.
If you haven't tried your phone (assuming you have a smart phone) I highly suggest that you do before you spend any money on any GPS to see if it meets your needs.

I got the Garmin 760RV and I like it even it you take you sometime in wrong direction but all of them have problem may be Garmin less.

Unless you have a Navigation app download to your phone then your phone uses data, which could be an issue with some people especially on longer trips. The phones are not RV or truck optimized like some GPS units are. I use multiple tools when traveling. If I need to find the closest grocery store then I just ask my phone. But the phones are not all up to date either. Google couldn't find a business I was going to and have been there for 20 years.

I had a DumDum that failed about 8 months into the warranty period. It took 7 months to get is replaced under warranty. During that time I purchased a Garmin. The Garmin is head and shoulders above the DumDum. However, my iPhone beats the Garmin, hands down! I use both but if I need quick guidance to access a POI the iPhone is the go to device.

I also have this model. Works great. Using the camera as a rearview mirror.
Btw the "LM" in the model number means lifetime maps updates for free

Try your GPS unit and then try your phone. Enter (or speak) find grocery stores near me. The phone will be right and the GPS will likely only have a few entries. Some of these will likely be wrong due to the length of time it takes to get updated information into these units. I could go on with a variety of comparisons but it really depends upon how you plan to use your GPS.
I drive my RV on highways to a destination so I really only need upcoming turns and lane and traffic information so the phone with Google Maps works perfectly for me in the RV and works 1000% better in my car than any GPS I have ever used.

We have a Garmin and The Camping World Rand McNally RV GPS with 7" screen.We got it because of the bigger screen and you can put in height restrictions etc. For some reason,the Rand McNally sometimes won't let you enter info which is frustrating. Or it tries to guess what you are trying to input and over rides what you are entering.The Garmin is better but it seems my Samsung S4 phone is the best of the bunch. You just tell it where you want to go and it takes you there.Why can't stand alone GPS units be this easy?

I am on my second Rand McNally. Sure it has warts as all gps devices do. I needed the new one because I broke the screen on my first one. The new model works great and has a few more improvements. For the money it is really hard to beat the features for an rver. Traveling along I can ask it to show me travel centers (truck stops), where I can easily get the train into the truck stalls. It pops up a list and I choose how long my bladder can wait.

The good news is I replaced the screen on my first Rand and it works good as new. Guess I will pop it into the toad because the built in gps argues with me and just does not play well. Those dumb voice commands units are pure garbage and you can't punch buttons while in route.

The Rand will show you campgrounds and even give you ratings and phone numbers. They really are RV friendly if you dig in to them.

I use the check list feature and it has kept me from doing some dumb stuff.
