Guess I should have been a little more specific in my question. DW wants a smart phone, but neither of us are smart phone savvy. And yes we are looking for both a phone and plan recommendations. Just really need the basics; camera, the web, gas buddy, raindar, maps and a few assorted other apps. No contract and a reasonable price with a broad network coverage. She'd probably do some texting and email, but heavy usage of these would be on the MacBook.
Thanks for all the great replies.
Buy an unlocked phone ( I bought a motorola moto g at Best Buy), buy the Tracfone SIM card for about $9.00 and transfer your existing tracfone minutes, etc. over to the new phone. The moto g uses the AT&T network and i haven't had any coverage problems.
For $50.00 you can get 1,000 minutes talk, 2,000 text, and 500MB data good for 90 days or less than $17.00 a month.
As a side note, the moto g came with android 4. As soon as I started it, it upgraded itself to android 5, and just recently upgraded to android 6 marshmallow. Also, motorola has a program that will transfer all your info, contacts, etc from your old phone.
