What's the Trick With Dish

I've been trying to get Dish to work on the road for a week. It was working in the home area but hasn't worked since. It seems to find satellites and has good signal strength, but all I get is the Dish marketing channels.

Anyone have a trick? Reset to defaults after a move? Is there a special dance to do by the antenna? I have the Pathway X2. I'm in Ohio. Which arc?

  • Yeah I just called Dish. I needed to send a wakeup signal since I haven't used it for a month. You can do all this through the app. I should be good now. Watching M*A*S*H now.
  • I’m in Ohio too and use a Pathway X2.

Either arc should work, I’m using the eastern arc.

    Is the Pathway level?

You should get the welcome screen, then you tell it where you are, select arc, then select scan..

It should go thru it’s three tests then download content then guide.

    Is it doing all that?

Maybe call them and have them re-authorize your box which you can do with the app, too.

Changing service zip only affects locals, not 121 for instance
  • Either call Dish tech support 1-800-333-3474 or go online and do a chat session with a rep.

Tell them you are in an RV and want to change your "SERVICE" location (not your "billing" address) and you want to get local channels. All you need to give them is the zip code where you are located. Some reps will ask for a full address - they do not need it!

You can also go to Satellite Guys Dish spot beam maps and find the spot beam you want.

For instance, in June & July we were traveling around Oregon. I saw that the Portland beam covered the entire state so I gave them a Portland zip code and then had Portland locals for the entire period.
