You don't need any 3rd party googaws to make 8.1 work just like 7. Mine boots to the desktop now. I never use the "metro" thingy. In fact the whole machine works just like 7, only faster, and now I can use the touch screen if I want to, or just leave it alone.
Touch screen is easier for scrolling through my daily newspaper, and for shutting down the machine. Otherwise, I'm a mousy person.
