Wife's Windows 7 Dell died this winter. Bought a Lenovo with Windows 8.1 and touch screen. I'm pretty darn Windows savvy having started with Windows 3.0 and moved up as my employer deployed technology company wide.
My wife rarely needed help with Windows 7, but 8.1 really had her buffaloed. She couldn't find commonly used functions. I took it over and spent two days setting up everything for her. The most recent update a couple of weeks ago improved the OS, but we both agree Windows 7 is preferable.
Love the Lenovo with its solid state drive that has the OS. Makes for a really fast boot.
She is really thinking of going to the desktop side of 8.1 and ditching all the tiles and the now hidden functions.
Guess it is ok for the younglings and all their touch screen technology, but it too big a leap for this geezer.
