Why can't it function properly right out of the box?Certainly it could have or possibly will in the future.
But that doesn't solve the basic revenue stream that MS is trying to jump on. Mobile is booming with phones, tablets, apps etc. PC sales are declining as the mobile society embraces mobile devices.
The MS W8x one size fits all for PCs, phones and tablets has not been a major hit. Heads rolled, staff and direction changes continue as MS seeks solutions.
Although I use my laptop a lot for camping related information some of my iPhone apps with it's tiny screen are vastly superior. Apps for camping, fuel, planet viewing, etc. What's compelling about the apps is the instant updates, maps showing locations, tap a phone number to call, etc.
In other words small touch screen apps. But I wouldn't even consider using my iPhone for this post. :B
