Which GPS

I have a garmin nuvi and love it but whatever you buy make sure that it contains lifetime map and traffic updates

I see on the Garmin website a new GPS RV760LMT.looks that is made special for RV owners.

Rand McNally RVers Gps has been great so far.....avoid anything Cobra.

The dezl for the Motorhome

The nuvi for the Dinghy
Product name: nüvi® 465LMT

The mapping info for both units have had brainfarts, and is not as accurate as previous models. I am assuming it is the mapping input used for all GPS units.

Using any GPS requires some planning ahead, about general routes, etc. On long trips I use both the GPS and Microsoft S&T to compare routes.

The motto with any mapping device is:

"Trust With Verification"

GPS has to be one of the most common threads on RV.net! They must be selling a ton of them. If you read through some of the previous posts about GPS units. Most people fall in 1 of 3 camps. 1. Go with the DEZL 760 (now with a RV version available). 2. The Rand McNally 7720 (Very Similar to the Good Sam GPS). 3. I am looking for the low cost leader with the NUVI 465LMT.

Some people look at the Magellans as well but they arent nearly as popular here on the forums.

Do a quick search of threads to find some good perspective if you dont end up getting a lot of replies here. It is heavily discussed in other recent posts.

Personally experience that has not been posted yet. I have the older Garmin 7200 in the MH that is now outdated. I am waiting for the new Garmin RV 760 to be released in the next couple of weeks and I will purchase one and here is the biggest reason.

My neighbor bought the Rand McNally 7720, however any additional POI's that we tried to load takes about 10 minutes before a single POI from the POI Factory will load on the 7720. That killed the 7720 for me as I have 22,000 custom POI's on an SD card for my Garmin's that I do not want to give up.

Owning an outdated GPS, I have been able to keep it up to date with the custom POI's I use and the 7720 will not allow me to do that as easily as a Garmin. JMO.

Don't ever count on Magellan having "lifetime" anything. They left their aviation GPS holders high and dry some years ago. Since then it has been my personal vendetta to dissuade anyone I can from buying their product.
