Actually getting your music from your iPad back to a new computer is quite easy had it not died. I transferred all my music from an iPod i had loaded from my desktop to a new laptop. Much of that music came from CDs. And it all transferred to the laptop. Unfortunately I don't remember the exact steps now. But I just googled it and came up with how to do it.
