DH and I both have android phones. He tried the iPhone for about 4 months and had nothing but trouble out of it. At the time he got the iPhone, I got a Samsung Galaxy SIII and I still have it - maybe 4 years now.
We use Straightalk, which is $45/month per line with all the data that we need to check email, facebook, etc. when we are on the road and don't have access to an open wifi.
He has gone back to an android, purchased the cheapest thing he could find that would work on straighttalk (which, where we are from, works on Verizon networks). I think it is an LG something and cost him $59.
He will probably upgrade to the Galaxy in a while, but after laying down the $$ for the iPhone and hating it, he's not ready to pony up the additional $$ for a new Galaxy.
