I bought a USB external Wi-Fi adapter with dual foldup antenna. I nearly always improve my campground signal. The better the signal the lower the packet loss making your data transfer faster.
You have to be familiar with Network and Sharing Center in Windows. Open said Center and click on change adapter settings. You then disable your internal adapter and enable your USB powered external adapter. If the external drivers are loaded you will be good. Do this at home. Sometimes moving the external just a few inches or rotating it 90 degrees one way or the other will increase your signal. That is difficult with the adapter/antenna in a laptop.
